Richard ends up eating Monster Munch at an online marketing seminar ...!
Hmmm - not a headline you would expect to see every day! But yesterday at the Ion Monster Online Marketing Day that's exactly what happened! During Ion's Niall McKeown's presentation, Niall suddenly stopped and asked everyone if they would like Monster Munch crisps - the sound of 140 odd people eating crisps was pretty loud!
Richard was there as a guest speaker on search engijne optimisation at the online marketing event - and a very successful day it turned out to be. With around 140 people there and some excellent presentations from Bebo, Xperience, Tibus and Ion - it was a great opportunity to pick up some tips and tricks on what's hot in the world of internet marketing. The whole event was recorded and I believe Ion are planning on making the recording available for viewing in the near future - we'll keep you posted!
Google may be downgrading the importance of links from website directories
Google has recently amended its Webmaster Guidelines and dropped the line 'Submit your site to relevant directories such as the Open Directory Project and Yahoo!, as well as to other industry-specific expert sites'. What does this mean? Well, it is probably a signal from Google not to place too much reliance on submitting your site to directories as your major source of getting links into your site. Does it mean that you should stop submitting your site to directories? Akmost certainly not - particularly directories that specialise in your particular niche.
We'll keep you posted on this one if we can.
